A Night’s Love
A Night’s Love
BY PATRICK ZALDARRIAGA
She came to me crying
She was hurt inside and dying
Her tears on my shirt, cradled her softly
As I would do, her pain is mine so coldly
‘I love you’ I said, her tears fell and streamed
Her hand on my face, the kiss was a dream
My soul was hurt and perished
This time with her I cherished
Never were we this close
She was a friend, yet I loved her most
I couldn’t have asked anything more
Her love and care I adore
It was always real, always true
When we kissed under the moon
Now she cries, a distorted emotion
Her head on my shoulder, ‘Don’t leave me’ she motions
My friend, my maiden, my life, my lover
She keeps me sane, we’ll stay forever
Now the night bids goodbye
One kiss from her will save my night
