A Scattered Fool

A Scattered Fool
BY PATRICK ZALDARRIAGA

As my past returns to linger
Broken hearts sunder and scatter
In doubts and thoughts of once I heard
I am perished, punished, and unsober

Times were wasted on someone hopeless
Played upon by shadows, so fearless
Violations and trespass mauled a soul
So careless, so foolish, she pierced a hole

Forever apart our worlds will be
Her thoughts with me will stay infinitely
I must forget her miserable seeds
Never will I miss her graceful deeds

As I move on to seek new love
I see a girl so pretty as a dove
As she tries to mend this burden of mine
Her memories from the past now tied to vines

A scattered fool dwelling the rotten old past
Now brought here to the bright present vast
She took my heart to fix it back
Sealed with a kiss, there’s nothing that lacks

Sweet, kind words I hear at night
From that same girl, it gives me might
Never again will I need to seek
I’ve found my whoever, she’s never a tease

I hold back those three words to say
Yet I long to tell her, much to my dismay
The time isn’t right to say the least
We take a step back, I take the lead

For now, we talk, we laugh, we cry
As we understand our words and sighs
Our love will have to remain in dreams
Her kiss I wait or so it seems

I can go on writing about our tales
She dwells my thoughts, I couldn’t possibly fail
I just can’t stop because I love her so
My words and poems not enough to show

I find my closure as I think of time
This scattered fool must not whine
As they say that love is kind
All I can is keep her in mind

One more word before I let go
She’s ever amazing, I truly know
As I forget my pasts behind
I feel unexplainable to know her so kind.
